Citi Easy Deals is a free discount program open to Citi Simplicity® Card - No Late Fees Ever and Citi® Diamond Preferred® Card cardholders that offers savings on gift cards, magazines, merchandise and travel. It also provides discounts on purchases from participating local merchants. Easy Deals is a tiered system, which means discounts are based on the amount of money the cardholder spends in a year. There is no spending requirement for the base tier of Citi Easy Deals, however. It provides local offers, such as discounts at nearby restaurants.

To take advantage of Citi Easy deals, Citi customers need to register an eligible card online, using their first and last name, last 4 Citi card digits and zip code. According to Citi customer service, the Citi Simplicity® Card - No Late Fees Ever and the Citi® Diamond Preferred® Card are the only two credit cards currently eligible for the Citi Easy Deals program.

Overall, Citi Easy Deals is a worthwhile program to join because it is completely free and offers savings on purchases in addition to any rewards that using a Citi card might normally provide.

How Citi Easy Deals Works

Citi Easy Deals is split into three tiers: Base, Enhanced and Plus. Cardholders who register a card are automatically put into the Base Tier. The Base Tier gives access to deals from local merchants – such as restaurants and landscaping companies – who have partnered with Citi to offer exclusive discounts. Exactly what the deals will be depends on where the cardholder lives.

In the past, cardholders needed to spend reward points in order to get access to Citi Easy Deals. But that requirement was replaced by the spending-tier system. Spending just $100 on a Citi card in a year elevates a cardholder to the Enhanced Tier. It provides deals on gift cards from major retailers and magazine subscriptions, in addition to local offers. For gift cards, Citi Easy Deals features merchants such as Macy’s, Kohl’s, Staples, iTunes, CVS, Target, Walmart, Amazon and many more. Customers can purchase these gift cards for less than face value – for example, $90 for a $100 gift card.

The highest Citi Easy Deals level is the Plus Tier. You need to spend $500 in a year to qualify. This tier unlocks deals for merchandise and travel, plus “Daily Deals” that can be in any category. Merchandise deals include discounts on everything from clothing and electronics to movie tickets and kitchen appliances. However, it’s always a good idea to check the price of these items from major retailers to make sure there aren’t better deals elsewhere. Travel deals include discounted hotel stays and flights.

According to Citi, cardholders will receive an email once they qualify for each Citi Easy Deals tier. Tier status changes always take effect at the beginning of the billing cycle after meeting the spending requirement. And membership in a tier lasts through the remainder of the calendar year plus the entire next year. After that, cardholders who do not meet the spending requirement to stay in a tier will be demoted.

Citi Easy Deals Tiers:

Tier Annual Spending Requirement Types of Deals
Base $0 Discounts at local merchants
Enhanced $100 Discounts at local merchants Gift cards Magazine subscriptions
Plus $500 Discounts at local merchants Gift cards Magazine subscriptions Special “Daily Deals” Merchandise Travel

Unfortunately, it’s impossible to see exactly what deals are available at any time without making a Citi Easy Deals account. For more information on the program, call the Citi Easy Deals customer service number at 1 (800) 231-6381.

Making & Returning Purchases with Citi Easy Deals

The Citi Easy Deals website allows you to instantly purchase the available deals. For deals that are not available online or are available both online and in person, you can print the offers, bring them in to the merchant and pay by card there. Local offers expire 14 days after they are printed.

Shipping is free to all U.S. States, D.C. and all territories. However, some large-sized purchases may only be available to people who live in the 48 contiguous states. In general, items ship within 2-5 business days, but may take up to 30 business days in some cases.

You can only cancel a Citi Easy Deals purchase on the same day the order was placed. To cancel a purchase, log in to citieasydeals.com, go to “My Account,” and click “cancel order/reservation.” Then, confirm the cancellation.

You may return a Citi Easy Deals purchase within 60 days of the purchase date by calling customer service at 1 (800) 231-6381. You cannot return gift cards. After Citi receives the returned item, they will provide a full refund within 3 business days.

Finally, you can put a different shipping address for each item you buy when checking out online. This allows you to gift purchases. However, you can only gift Enhanced Tier or Plus Tier deals this way. According to the terms and conditions, local offers are for use by the cardholder only.

How Good is Citi Easy Deals?

Citi Easy Deals is a worthwhile and trustworthy program because there is no charge for membership and it offers legitimate discounts. There’s also free shipping, and unsatisfied customers can get a full refund. However, there are a few cons. The first is the narrowness of the program, since only the Diamond Preferred and Simplicity cards participate. In addition, you cannot find out what deals are available until after registering their card. And some deals, such as those on merchandise, might provide discounts that are less valuable than sales you might find at other retailers. Citi Easy Deals can’t be combined with other discounts, unfortunately.

If you’re an eligible Citi cardholders, you should definitely join the Citi Easy Deals program. But you should also make sure to examine each deal and compare it with offers you find elsewhere to make sure you are really getting the best discount you can.
