But the 12 friends who started it in 1980 estimate that they’ve made about $128. Their mistake: the group formed in the now-defunct restaurant La Rotisserie Française and fought hard to protect their copyright over the name “Rotisserie Baseball.” Had they instead protected their scoring system or rules, they might be rich enough now to own a real baseball team.
